Release the Press!

Behold our awesome press-release!

Cool, huh? We broke a story concerning the abortion issue. We have arrived.

Anyway, Mike did a Vortex about this today on RealCatholicTV.com - you can check it out here, but why not subscribe and then you can check out all the stuff yourself? It is free or, for merely $10 a month, you can get the cool premium access programming which is literally hundreds of hours of high-quality Catholic video.

In other Nancy Pelosi related news, she and the Pope "did not see eye to eye". Quelle suprise, there . . . .

You know what? I would talk about this - about how Sen. Pelosi needs to get with the program, about how she is ignoring the pastoral letters, about how she lied about Catholic teaching and / or being familiar with it, about how she has obfuscated and hidden the agenda, about how she hides behind the "personally opposed but ..." mantra. There would be a lot to talk about.

But I can't be bothered - I have a taping of The One True Faith to get ready for tonight (hey, if you want FREE TICKETS TO A REAL LIVE TV SHOW!!!!1oneone click here to get them) and my time is valuable. So, it boils down to this;

Nancy (and all the rest of you pro-aborts); get with the program. ONE program. Just one - don't sit on that fence. Get with ONE program. Either be Catholic with all that entails, or be a pro-abort. Don't try to be both.

You sit on that fence too long, you'll get some splinters in some very nasty places.

Way Out West ....

Well, not really way out West for those of you west of the Mississippi, and certainly not way out West for those of your in the Mountains. In fact, east for those of you living in the moral horror of the Left Coast.

But, for us chaps over here in the Midwest and on the Eastern Seaboard (and, to be fair, pretty much everywhere else in the world) what happens in North Dakota and Arizona is way out West.

I absolutely love "the West", as a completely pointless aside. I really do. My dad raised me (an Englishman!) on both kinds of music (Country and Western) and I have always loved the cowboy image. Okay, it's a parody and a cliche idea - but I do have family in Arizona. And here is a picture of me in Scottsdale sporting my stylish Western duds.

Total dude ranch, I know.

Where was I? Oh, yes - The Dakotan Personhood Amendment. As covered in our sister blog, the North Dakotans love RealCatholicTV.com. Why? Because people from North Dakota are awesome, obviously. They are awesome because they pass stuff like this personhood amendment - and that awesomeness leads them to like the best Catholic video site EVER, which is us.

So, the legislature of the Roughrider State has passed this bill - or, rather, it has passed the Lower House and is moving into the Senate in a couple of weeks - which defines a child in the womb as a human being. This gives said child the legal protections normally afforded to humans. In case you missed the point of this; it is generally considered illegal to burn a human being alive with saline or drag his dead body about after sucking out his brains. You can read a lot more about the amendment here at this website the guys and gals from ND have set up.

It still has to clear the Senate - so if you are are North Dakotan, take time out from being cool and write to your State Senator and urge him or her to pass this thing, please!

Good news there on the pro-life front.

And in other news from way out West, there is a cause to publicly demonstrate in Phoenix, AZ about President Obama's policies to kill as many babies as humanly possible (I'm getting editorial, sorry). If you are in Arizona and you can spare the time from just hanging out and enjoying the fantastic beauty of the State, why not go and demonstrate? It should be nice in Phoenix right now.

So, that is my pro-life news update. Dakota and Arizona, two favorite States of mine. Normally, what with distance and everything, I don't get to see them as much as I would like. But, when they are in the pro-life news - hey, everyone is a winner.

And Arizona is the setting for next week's NCIS, which I think is great. The trailer for next week's episode suggests it features Ziva on a horse (always good) and - even more awesome - Gibbs shooting down a helicopter with a lever-action rifle.

That is awesome. But not even close to the North Dakotan Personhood Amendment. If Gibbs was from North Dakota, he wouldn't even need the rifle.

Whatever Happened To The Heroes?

On my personal blog (whose URL I won't share, as it is really just for my close friends and family) I posted a post today about the lack of heroes in the world. I was inspired by this post by events which happened to me on the internet, but it then struck me this topic was very relevant for this blog, and so please allow me to expand on it.

When I talk about heroes, I refer to people who have courage. And I mean moral courage - physical courage is, of course, valuable but it stems from moral courage. Moral courage is the most important thing - can we do what is right, even when it is difficult?

(As an aside, I riff on this theme in this podcast I did once.)

This realization was inspired by a number of people I met on the internet who were being excessively cruel to someone else - telling him to kill himself at the extreme level. And practically no-one spoke up about it but me. And I got vilified for it and have spent a lot of time writing to people and trying to explain my actions, and trying to persuade them that bullying is wrong.

Anyway, this issue struck me as being not only symptomatic of the general malaise in our world today, but also particularly applicable to the issue of abortion.

Surveys always show that the majority of Americans do NOT agree with the current status of abortion laws. Many people say that the majority of Americans are pro-life, but this is not quite the case (the majority of Americans feel that abortion should be legal in some sort of situation). However, the majority of Americans do not hold the pro-abortion views currently enshrined in our laws.

So, why is abortion on the books?

Answer - because there are no heroes any more.

In the same way as people won't speak up on the internet when someone is bullied, or the way people won't interfere if they see a girl being hit in a bar, or whatever - people don't seem to be willing to stand up for what they believe in. Maybe they think they will be hurt or ridiculed or fired or whatever. Maybe they just don't want to be socially different from the "norm".

But at the core of all these reasons is fear - I dare not speak out. I dare not speak up.

And because of this, evil goes unchecked. People who are personally opposed (and are REALLY personally opposed, not just saying they are) might think no-one should have an abortion, but they never do anything about it. They don't speak out against it, they don't tell anyone it's wrong.

And so it continues.

What is my point here? It's pretty simple - but it might be hard to listen to. If we (as people who are GENUINELY personally opposed to abortion) don't actually DO anything, then how are we different from those who just SAY they are personally opposed? What is the practical difference?

Sure - we might know the truth deep down in our hearts, but if we don't act on it? What then?

And, most importantly, if we don't do anything . . . . is it REALLY true in our hearts?

More from Jeff

My friend Jeff is not only great at finding out pro-life and abortion-war news, but is also a great warrior in that culture war. Recently, he wrote to his elected representative, Sen. Carl Levin (from this, you can guess that Jeff, like myself, is in the fine State of Michigan) concerning Sen. Levin's support for FOCA and other destructive legislation.

And Sen. Levin wrote back - check out the Senator's response, and then Jeff's fine commentary on this matter.

From the desk of Carl Levin ....

Dear Jeff:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Freedom of Choice Act (S.1173). I have heard from many constituents regarding this legislation, including some who recently visited my Washington office to discuss this issue with my staff. While I have found that people of goodwill often have difficulty finding common ground on issues relating to abortion, I have also learned to respect the deeply held beliefs of those on both sides of the debate.

Among other provisions, S.1173 would state that “it is the policy of the United States that every woman has the fundamental right to choose to bear a child, to terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability, or to terminate a pregnancy after fetal viability when necessary to protect the life or health of the woman.” As you may know, this legislation was not considered before the adjournment of the 110th Congress. Should related legislation be brought before this session of Congress, I will certainly keep your views in mind.

In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court held that the right to privacy guaranteed by the Constitution "necessarily includes the right of a woman to decide whether or not to terminate a pregnancy" during the first trimester. However, the Court held that states may regulate or even prohibit post-viability abortions, providing the ban contains an exception to protect the life and health of the woman.

While I am personally opposed to abortions unless they are performed to save the life or health of the mother or are performed as a result of rape or incest, I support a public policy that permits a woman to decide whether or not to have an abortion within the guidelines set by Roe v. Wade.

I appreciate you sharing your views with me.

Sincerely,
Carl Levin

From the desk of Jeff the Culture Warrior ...

Check out Senator Carl Levin's response to abortion, but especially read the beginning of the 4th paragraph. Unbelievable! His attitude and his statements don't cut it. These pathetic and unacceptable statements will not be good enough to stand before almighty God when he has to give an account for cooperating with evil and being responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent babies. "To much is given, much is expected." My advice: Carl - You can't play both sides of the fence. God even said that he will spew out the lukewarm. Repent before it's too late Carl!

I have nothing to add. Jeff, you are the man, the boy, the kiddie. There is nothing more to be said other than your comments. You perfectly encapsulate EVERYTHING we are trying to say here.

Jeff, this beer from a company not supporting abortion or the homosexual agenda is for you!

And now in video!

Following on from what I blogged about earlier we have the video report, straight from RealCatholicTV.com! (My cat not pictured).

A couple of stories

Two abortion-related news-stories today; first up a 2006 botched abortion hits the headlines. Secondly, Bishop Martino lays into some dude from PA. Oh, right - he's a Senator.

The first story is offered simply because it is a horrible tale that people need to hear and pray about - I mean, come on. That is simply disgusting. That is flat infanticide, nothing more and nothing less. This is the true face of pro-choice.

These people are murderers - quite literally, it seems.

Anyway, Bishop Martino's story is far more upbeat. Sure, it is something that shouldn't have to be said (in an ideal world, bishops should just say Mass a lot and kiss babies - but, then again, in an ideal world we wouldn't need the Church because we'd never have eaten the wretched apple!) but if it needs to be said, it is always good to say it. The link above is to Diane's blog - Diane is a personal friend, and is awesome. She puts her own comments on the letter, and I'm not going to pretend my comments would be any better than hers.

But, the issue I want to focus on is this - Bishop Martino is calling out Sen. Casey for his actions; actions which are directly opposed to both his professed faith (Catholic) and his statements of belief (he claims to support the life of the unborn). This is both the very heart of the "personally opposed" issue, and also a classic example of what bishops need to be doing.

Astute followers of RealCatholicTV.com will note that Bishop Martino has appeared on that fine website. In his programs, he talks about important stuff - below is the good bishop talking about a related issue;

A wonderful presentation from the bishop there, and just one of many such presentations we have on RealCatholicTV.com on the Shepherd's Voice program. Register today (it's free!) and get access to all sorts of material like this. For only $10 a month, you can get access to literally HUNDREDS of hours of premium programs, too!

And, to finish, let's talk in a somewhat sarcastic way about Senator Casey and his "pro-life Catholic" credentials, because, you know what? I can.

Senator, I don't know you from Adam - well, perhaps I do. Adam at least had to be tempted to eat of the fruit of the tree, you appear to be making entire apple pies and using Federal money to promote them to others. But, I know very little about you - save the fact that you have been formally censured by your bishop for being a fool co-operating with evil. Perhaps you will amend your ways - I sincerely hope and pray that you do.

But if you haven't, then let's have some honesty, shall we, Senator? You say you are Catholic and that you protect the life of the unborn. This, Senator, is a fib. You are about as Catholic and as protecting of the life of the unborn as my cat. And her only claim to being Catholic is that she is called Guadalupe (we rescued her on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe) and tries to steal my Rosary beads when I am praying. And the only reason she is pro-life now is because there aren't any mice or small birds for her to hunt.

One of these creatures has not been censured for being a bad Catholic

Senator, when you are shown up in basic human decency and adherence to your professed faith by a furry creature who eats kibbles, you know you are doing something wrong. Senator - get with the program.

Your Point, Mister President, Appears To Have Exceeded Your Grasp

I don't really know where to begin with this one. Let us begin with the words of the Commander in Chief of the United States of America;

Click here for the video - relevant section begins at about 2:55.

Hey, you know - I got nothing.

President Obama says that "no God condones the taking of innocent life"? This would be the same Barack Obama who says that he doesn't know when human life begins (it is "above his paygrade")?

And the same Barack Obama who supports the right to abort babies in the womb?

My God, Mister President! If you are going to admit that you are an ignorant fool who was asleep during biology class when we were taught that life begins at conception because when else could it begin, you doofus? and ALSO state that God does not condone taking of an innocent human life, perhaps you should err on the side of caution and not support the killing of something which you admit MIGHT be human life?

This is - if you will permit me an analogy - like having a live grenade you need to dispose of, and having a laundry chute to drop it down. You don't know if there are people at the end of the laundry chute folding towels and chatting about last night's American Idol, but you think there MIGHT be. And you are too stupid and lazy to look.

Do you; a) avoid dropping the grenade down the hole or b) drop the grenade down the hole and call it a woman's right to choose? After all - who wants to be punished with a washerwoman and her laundry-folding friends?

Mister President - you are a shocking fool at best. You are an evil hypocrite of the worst order, and only little wit can excuse you. You claim to be a man of faith who believes in SOME KIND of God, and state that NO GOD condones taking innocent life. And you've also said that you don't know when life begins.

Being an idiot does not get you off the hook for murder, Mister President. Perhaps that knowledge was above your paygrade too.

Evil!Spock

How many people watched Star Trek? I used to love it - until I got older and then I realized that i) some of the later series were really bad (Enterprise) and ii) it was a shockingly liberal, left-wing show which promoted huge amounts of anti-family life without consequences. Seriously, go watch it again . . .

Anyway, who remembers the episode where they go to the alternate dimension and find Evil!Spock? Yes, we all remember that one - Spock's evil twin . . . . who had a beard!

Now, this episode was such a hit that the standard way of showing an evil twin in movies etc. is now to stick a goatee beard on them. Don't believe me? Look at me, disguised as my own evil twin from an alternate dimension!

Where am I going with this? Leading in a roundabout way to a pro-abortion law that you might not have heard of; the "Prevention First Act". Read all about it here.

This act is described as "FOCA's Evil Twin" (ah, you see what I am doing here with pictures of Leonard Nimoy and myself? Yeah. Clever, huh? No? Ah, well, just carry on reading, will you?) This act will make something called "Title X" permanent. Title X is a program which pushes funds towards abortion . . . and removes them from non-abortion methods of birth control (such as, for example, abstinence programs or not having sex in the first place as they are sometimes known.)

So, once again, we have a CLASSIC example of the dichotomy and flim-flam and lies of our elected officials - they say they are NOT "pro-abortion" but are rather "pro-choice". And they are trying to push through an act which will not JUST increase funding for abortion, but will in fact DECREASE funding for non-abortive programs.

Let's use an analogy here; this is like saying "I want you to have a choice of what to put in your sandwiches - so I will be buying more peanut butter and jelly, and buying much less cheese." Methinks that in this situation I would be taking a lot more PB&J to work in my little brown bag, no?

This is insanity, oh people on The Hill! Saying you want "choice" and actively promoting something is hypocritical. Saying you want "choice" and actively promoting something and reducing availability of alternatives is hyper-hypocritical. This is such a ludicrous situation that even I am at a loss to come up with some kind of humorous metaphor which will neatly encapsulate this.

The "Prevention First Act" is described as "FOCA's Evil Twin", as I mentioned above when I was trying to shoehorn in Leonard Nimoy and my new beard into the post, and I must admit that really takes some doing. How bad does something have to be before it makes FOCA look like the good sibling you could take home to mom?

Answer - as bad as the "Prevention First Act". FOCA removes restrictions on abortions - but the PFA drags money away from non-abortive methods and gives it to abortion. It's not as obvious, and it might sneak under the radar. That, in my book, makes it worse than FOCA, and we need to fight it.

So, I tell you of this act - and advise you to contact your lawmakers and tell them to oppose it. I also offer this awesome newscast from RealCatholicTV.com where we talk about the law in question. The relevant story starts around 1:20; take a look;

You can watch news like this every day, together with loads of other videos by going to RealCatholicTV.com and registering for a free account. It's great - everyone cool is doing it.

And if you are wondering why I grew a beard so I could look like my alternate self . . . . well, you'll just have to register for RealCatholicTV.com's premium service! It's for a show on there, and it is going to be superfly awesome like everything else we do. Premium registration is only $10 a month - which is about the price of three fancy-schmancy coffees with silly pseudo-European names (I'm from Europe - we call it "coffee" over there, buckaroo). And the best thing? You never have to worry about us promoting an anti-life agenda!

The second best thing? You get access to literally hundreds of hours of video, with hours been added each week! Check it out - only the price of three frappa-wappa-slappa-cappachinos! And much less fattening.

Good!Spock would find it most logical.

'I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my morals being flushed down the drain . . ."

A catchy title, if somewhat long. Similar to the giant snake recently discovered in Colombia.

That isn't anything to do with this post, you understand. That was just something I found and thought was cool. Well, I suppose it could be relevant - I mean, I am talking about Planned Parenthood in this post and we have ancient, fossilized slimy reptiles capable of eating children whole which come from a place with a tendency to supply drugs.

Oooo, burn.

Today's post (actually, the first of today's posts, plural - I am on fire today!) is about Planned Parenthood. Astute followers of the pro-life movement and abortion news etc. will know about the Mona Lisa Project which exposes Planned Parenthood for what it is (a large, slimy reptile which eats children whole). In actual fact, what they are most famous for is exposing the fact that Planned Parenthood often fail to report statutory rape (that is, where a girl under a certain age has sex with an older man). In fact, they cover it up - advising the girls to lie, or simply "not hearing" them when they say how old the boyfriend is.

In case you are wondering, they capture this stuff on video - and it often leads to investigations and criminal proceedings against Planned Parenthood.

Now, why am I mentioning this? Well - I am mentioning this because it speaks to a very important point. Abortion advocates want abortion to be "safe, legal and rare" as their mantra runs.

They have failed to make it safe (women die from botched abortions with frightening regularity) and they have failed to make it rare (I don't call 4000 a day in the USA alone rare, do you?) And they have made it legal.

But when we see Planned Parenthood breaking the law in order to provide abortions and to circumvent laws designed to allow mothers to make an informed choice (i.e. PP is being criminal in order to force abortions on people) that just takes the cake. Promoting abortions is bad enough - but then actively breaking the law and allowing a criminal who has sexually abused a woman to go free as well is just ludicrous!

Yes, that is what is happening - try and understand their "logic" here; PP wants to protect "women's rights" . . . . and in order to do so, they allow rapists to go free!

Let's hear it for PP's stalwart support of women's rights!

I am reminded of another kind of snake - the Ouroboros which swallows its own tail and thus consumes itself, defeating its own purpose.

But, I am also reminded of another snake - one with its head crushed in by a heel.

Keep praying, keep supporting initiatives like the Mona Lisa Project and RealCatholicTV.com, and keep spreading the truth about abortion and Planned Parenthood!
